Selected Business Announcements

Choctaw Point - APM Terminals/CMA CGM – The Alabama State Port Authority has approved a concession agreement with Mobile Container Terminal LLC to develop a new container terminal at Choctaw Point. Mobile Container Terminal LLC, a joint venture between APM Terminals North America (80%), headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands and a subsidiary of Maersk Inc., and Terminal Link, a division of CMA CGM (20%), with a head-office in Marseille, France, will provide terminal customers with access to global networks covering all possible trade routes to and from the Port of Mobile. APM Terminals will operate and manage the terminal.

Construction of the container terminal began in April 2005 and operations are expected to begin in the second half of 2007 with a start up capacity of more than 350,000 TEU. The Mobile Container Terminal project will be developed in phases, and at full build out, will have an annual capacity of 800,000 TEU. Once operations begin in late 2007, the container terminal is expected to create more than 300 permanent jobs.

The overall project, which will include a separate intermodal rail transfer facility and modern distribution complex, will represent a total investment of approximately $300 million. The Authority and Mobile Container Terminal will jointly invest in the infrastructure for the container terminal with Mobile Container Terminal providing all buildings and equipment.

Northrop Grumman/EADS North America Holdings Inc. – Mobile, Alabama's Brookley Industrial Complex has been selected by Northrop Grumman and its partner, EADS North America Holdings Inc., as the site for the EADS KC-30 advanced tanker U.S. production facility.

The decision was announced on June 22, 2005 by EADS North America Holdings Inc., completing a five-month nationwide search for the location that will become the center of activity for the KC-30 - which is being offered to recapitalize the U.S. Air Force's aerial refueling fleet.
Production will be initiated at the Mobile facility upon receipt of an order from the U.S. Air Force for the KC-30 aerial refueling tanker. Activities will include aircraft final assembly, militarization and modification. The total facility investment could reach $600 million, and direct employment levels could be as high as 1,500 workers --including a mix of structure mechanics, electronic and systems specialists, engineers, quality assurance personnel and management. EADS North America Holdings Inc. will also co-locate assembly of the A330 freighter airplane at the tanker facility, creating an additional 300 jobs.

Development of the KC-30 industrial facility will begin as a new Airbus Engineering Center in the United States, with operations starting in early 2006 and its employment growing to more than 200 persons. This facility is to support continuing engineering work on commercial Airbus models and military derivative aircraft - including the A330, A340 and A350 jetliners, as well as the KC-30 tanker.

ThyssenKrupp Steel and Stainless USA LLC – Announced that it has selected Alabama as the home for its new state-of-the-art steel and stainless steel processing facility. he facility, a cooperative effort between ThyssenKrupp Steel and ThyssenKrupp Stainless, will be located in Northern Mobile and Southern Washington counties. ThyssenKrupp also announced that it will invest $3.7 billion in this facility that will employ 2,700 people when it begins operations in 2010.

Airbus North America Engineering – Construction was completed in early 2007 on the newest Airbus facility in the U.S. – Airbus North America Engineering in Mobile, Alabama. This facility is responsible for various interior elements of Airbus’ newest aircraft, the A350XWB. At full capacity, the office will employ 150 engineers. Should EADS, an Airbus parent company, receive an order to modernize the U.S. Air Force’s tanker fleet with the Northrop Grumman KC-30, this facility could expand into a larger-scale industrial site related to that aircraft.

Berg Spiral Pipe Corp. – Berg Steel Pipe Corp has selected Mobile, AL as the preferred site for its new spiral steel pipe manufacturing facility. The facility will be located on part of a former International Paper site, currently owned by the Alabama State Port Authority, located in the city of Mobile. The project is expected to invest approximately $75 million in capital and employ approximately 100 people. It is expected that the facility will begin operations in mid-2008.
